Do I need a vapour barrier?

In most cases, wood flooring should be protected from moisture coming from the subfloor. We recommend Bjelin’s Combi Foam underlay, which combines a vapour barrier and foam for best results.

Please note that a moisture barrier is mandatory for subfloors such as newly cast concrete slabs, lightweight concrete structures, concrete floors directly on the ground, crawl space foundations, floors above warm or humid areas (such as boiler rooms or laundry rooms), or underfloor heating systems.
